Hello,
Believe it or not - I received numerous comments about yesterday's article about Wi-Fi.
It was a JOKE
Which brings me to another thought: I think I now know in some small way how Orson Welles thought on October 30, 1938 when he broadcast H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" on the radio. In light of today's instantaneous communications medium (media?), we lose the ability to interpret the speaker/transmitter/creator's body language. I have read studies that indicate that we, as humans, receive far more input to our decision making process through body language. A lesson I take from this is that, if I'm going to pull someone's leg, I'll be very clear about that in the beginning - even if that means that the eventual impact will be somewhat lessened.
On a slightly different vector of the same subject - how long will it be before the TAS industry (or the 911 call center world, for that matter) embraces the Video aspect of the communications process? There are some vertical callcenters doing 2 way video chat, and I predict that you'll see it offered as an option from some TAS vendors within the next 5 years. Hmmmmm...............I don't know if I WANT to see the person answering my pediatrician or plumber's phone at o'dark thirty (nor, of course, would I want them to see ME at that hour!).
As always, I welcome your thoughts and suggestions
